What's "too much"? Team your fearless legwear with a miniskirt, neutral sweater and patterned outwear. Polish off the look with ladylike shoes and coordinating (metallic) socks.

Another (more wearable) suggestion: use grids to dress up a standard sneaker-dress combo per Sofya Benzakour of La Couleur du Moment.

We call this the Kim Kardashian method, she calls it "Parisian Vibes". The idea is to make like Aaliyah (or Marky Mark) and allow your undergarments (in this case, fishnets) to rise to your waistline and peek out above your bottoms. While we believe the waistline-above-the-pants look works best with mid-rise blue jeans and a navel-grazing tee, this Christian Dior showgoer went a more modest route.

Fishnet stockings add edge to any boho or slip dress. Finish off the ensemble with a white tee and oversized black blazer and let the 90s, punk and corporate vibes collide.

Worn as a statement sock, fishnets can add a touch of interest (sex appeal, rebelliousness) to an otherwise casual, menswear-inspired look. Extra points if the cuff matches your chunky combat boots, which, by the way, go great with 'nets. (Utilitarian footwear detracts from the pinup factor in a good way.)

Same principle, but with sandals, cropped pants and stockings.

Another option is to play up the pinup vibes with retro, high-waisted shorts. Of course, you'll still want to balance out your 'fit with a not-so-skin-showy topper and "boyish" accessories.

To avoid the whole "fishnets-as-cages-for-your-toes" situation, don a pair of no-show socks under your hosiery or simply tout the trend in tote form. As Who What Wear's Natalie Cantell demonstrates, a netted bag complements the preciousness of a florals-heavy look.

Incorporate a pair of cream-colored fishnets into your usual winter layering ritual. The benefits are twofold. First, you get an added layer of warmth. Second, your bold hose will draw viewers' eyes toward your awesome new stirrup pants. The 80s are back — embrace it, don't fight it.

See-through black turtlenecks are a must-have this season, as are those of fishnet variety. Wear them under V-neck sweaters or as stand-alone statement tops, your call.

Play with shapes and lines. To give flares more flair, swap out your regularly scheduled knitwear for colorful, diamond-patterned socks. (ASOS offers a sweet baby blue pair.)

For a Vivienne Westwood-approved look, pair a punky crew neck with a tartan slip dress, leather jacket and pearly statement earrings. The result is surprisingly chic.

Or reverse the formula and rock a fishnet frock over a ladylike blouse.
