Inventive Power Suiting
More often than not, Fall 2017's power dressing trend took the form of outsize blazers and well-tailored pants. The best suits weren't courtroom-ready, though. Jacquemus' had a sculptural feel, Ports 1961's featured stylish cut-outs, Mary Katrantzou's were works of art. Skirt suits took second place in the reimagined corporate dressing category. Silver was everywhere. Tinfoil looks stole the show at Balenciaga, Prabal Gurung, Lacoste, Proenza Schouler, Sies Marjan, Sally LaPointe, Michael Kors, Ulla Johnson, Genny, Dolce & Gabbana and more. Special attention must be paid to the glitter action that took place south of models' knees, however. You know a trend is about to blow up when Rihanna wears it straight off the runway.

Shearling
Colorful, teddy bear-like furs are in. As are all manner of trenches (pink, metallic, plasticized, deconstructed). For those looking for outerwear that's a bit more, well, wearable, there's shearling. Cozy, 70s-inspired coats were all over the runways of New York, Paris, Milan and London. Scarves That Could Be Blankets
The hygge movement made its mark on the Fall 2017 runways. Scarves that could double as bedspreads came slung over shoulders, across arms, nestled around necks. Some were quilted, some wool, some fuzzy. On a related note, duvets and pelts took on pant (Eckhaus Latta) and skirt (Marni) form. Things are getting very weird (but very cozy).
