It may still be summer, but our thoughts are slowly turning to fall. Starbucks’ infamous Pumpkin Spice Lattes are almost here (word is September 5) and we’re already deep into shopping for our perfect pair of fall jeans. But one sure sign fall is coming is the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show casting call.
Hoping to land a coveted spot in the televised show (this year taking place in Shanghai), fresh faces and industry pros alike headed to Midtown in New York City over the past couple of days to see if they can earn their wings. And the casting outfits are pretty eye-catching. From a basic white tee cropped above a pair of shredded skinny jeans to a lacy black bralette sure to win points (if it’s Victoria’s Secret) combined with flowy white pants, the looks were varied and very model-on-duty.
So, we’ve rounded up the best ensembles models wore to try and impress the bigwigs at VS. Take notes because you’re about to witness some prime summer-to-fall transition outfit inspo.

-
Malaika Firth
Malaika Firth kept things simple by layering a white asymmetrical tee over a matching tank and short shorts. Black booties and a backpack added a little edge.

Sora Choi
Sora Choi’s LWD with feathered skirt was pretty dressy, so she toned it down with a black cardigan and Gucci kicks.

Nadine Leopold
Follow Nadine Leopold's lead and favor silky separates. Pro tip: Show off the belted waist of your pants by tucking under your blouse for instant crop top appeal.

Sadie Newman
Rocking a bralette with lace trim, Sadie Newman was still channeling summer by pairing the cropped top with breezy white pants. An oversized tote and neutral sandals finished things off.

Gizele Oliveira
We’re digging the folded mom jeans Gizele Oliveira tucked her ribbed white top into. The white pumps were killer, while the striped bag strap added a pop of color.

Sofia Resing
Instead of a classic white V-neck, opt for a peachy one that almost matches your rose gold iPhone a la Sofia Resing. Distressed dark denim cutoffs and ankle-strap sandals polished off her look.

Wallette Watson
A silky tank simply screams summer, but the slate hue is strictly for fall. Tailored shorts and loafers upped the cool factor.

Ah, the quintessential model uniform. White tee? Check. Shredded skinnies? Check. Red sandals for a shot of color? Check.

Londone Myers
Sport your headphones as a hair accessory. Bonus points if they’re rose gold and if you work in matching shades, a denim jacket with one sleeve practically missing and fringed-hem cropped jeans.

-
Duckie Thot
Nothing tops off a leather miniskirt like a leather jacket in the same shade. Duckie Thot kept the rest of her look pretty monochromatic via her top, bag and sandals.

Cindy Mello
Khaki paper-bag waists call for a streamlined tube top in a neutral shade (like black). Cindy Mello’s asymmetric black boots played up the pants’ rolled cuffs.

Juana Burga
Get in your all-white outfit before Labor Day by teaming a crisp tee with stark jeans, especially ones allowing a subtle strip of skin. Top it all off with tortoiseshell cat-eye sunglasses.
