When the world's gone mad and you're feeling down, glam up your look and you'll feel a bit better — this according to the multitudes (Michael Kors, Stuart Vevers, Tom Ford, etc.) who showed sparkling daywear for spring. Just as they did during other admittedly rough times (the 20s, the 30s, the 70s), sequins are making a comeback. They're essentially the new florals.

Anoraks as Tops
Athleisure never says die. Designers from Raf Simons to Mona Kowalska struck a particularly sportif tone. In addition to the usual haute track pants and street-ready gym shorts (this season, it's all about the cyclist aesthetic), weatherproof tops with bungee cord ties were everywhere. While the plasticized tops didn't look all that cozy, they did make for some fun textural pairings.

Fit to Be Tied
Season after season, the 90s come back to haunt us. (In a good way, like a Devon Sawa-voiced Casper. Now there's a 90s-dated reference.) For Spring 2018, it's that classic sleeves-tied-around-the-waist trick that preoccupied designers. To minimize bulk, many (Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott) skipped the extra layer and attached for-show sleeves to skirts, pants and blouses. Creatures of Comfort saw the value in keeping an extra layer handy.
