At least according to numerous designers during the Fall 2018 season. From silvery coats, suits and dresses to iridescent accessories, it’s time we all looked like extras from [insert old movie name here].
Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain army has apparently found its uniform as the designer inundated his Fall 2018 collection with shiny suits. At Sies Marjan, the glare was restricted to one iridescent look boasting an eye-blinding trench and matching oversized bag. Maryam Nassir Zadeh offered up a crinkled, foil-like dress that fits right in with the prairie dress revolution.
In combination with hazmat gloves and balaclavas we’re anticipating becoming a thing this winter, Raf Simons provided glimpses at the future of luxury fashion in the form of Mylar blanket dresses and a shearling-lined sleeveless jacket. Wondering what to wear to work? Maison Margiela has the solution: a prismatic skirt suit you can layer over modern-day basics. Although plaid dominated Christian Dior’s fall effort, there were pops of futuristic separates, including silver outerwear and corresponding bottoms.
And you don’t have to wait to score fashion-forward looks. Retailers saw the trend coming and stocked up on shiny must-haves. Our advice?
