Of all the trends 2018 has ushered upon us, dramatic letter earrings are the best of the lot. From Tessa Thompson’s huge “Murder, Murder, Murder” earrings from Sorry to Bother You to the Balenciaga Fall 2017 line, alphabet earrings are blurring the lines between high fashion and millennial culture.
Letter jewelry is not exactly a new concept and has been around for decades. But in the last couple of years, big, single letter or neon bubble letter words have been conceptualized as the fiercest fast fashion trend. Seriously, if you’re tired of metallic danglers or chandeliers, the letter earring thing might be your next move.
Tessa’s earrings got incredible reviews and are every stylist’s dream accessory. “It brought me back to the days of door knockers. It brought me back to those oversized earrings of the ’80s which, you know, everyone wore,” Deirdra Elizabeth Govan, the costume designer for the film, told Racked.
Basically a shortcut to radical fashion, letter earrings are the only accessory you need to invest in this season if you’re in search of a next-level vibe. Here’s a look at some of the best ways to wear them.
