It only uses 100 percent GMO-free, pesticide- and herbicide-free, recycled and fair-traded ingredients. Its ethics go beyond the environment as well by supporting family farms, localized manufacturing and living wages. It also lists and further elaborates on its ingredients on its website . Vaute claims to be the first-ever vegan apparel brand in the world. And it's expanding: it started out with winter wear, but has begun creating casual wear and eveningwear as well. Each piece is made of the brand's own developed materials and organic or recycled fibers. Clothes go from $35 to $700.
Miakoda
Miakoda 's women’s athletic wear and loungewear are made of plant-based materials in an ethical factory in Manhattan. Besides being eco-friendly, its clothes are affordable ($5 to $92) and cater to all sizes.
Wawwa
Wawwa first started with organically made T-shirts that only used water-based inks and 100 percent recycled yarn. In 2017, the brand decided to go 100 percent vegan even down to its packaging made of plant-based alternatives. The brand has hoodies, beanies, scarves, shirts and bags priced between $14 and $80.
Beckons
Beckons manufactures locally and uses only the finest sustainable fibers and organic cotton. As seen in the name, it's known for yoga and athletic apparel since its bras, leggings, shorts and T-shirts are all breathable and soft. It's expanded the line to include casual wear like blouses, dresses and skirts. Pieces across all categories run from $40 to around $110. It pushes its environmental agenda further by donating all end-of-season merchandise to charity organizations instead of throwing it away.
DEVINTO
The blouses and dresses of DEVINTO range from $54 to $199 and are locally made using ethically-sourced natural fabrics, such as bamboo, organic cotton and hemp. Every piece is made to order to minimize waste and overproduction.
Rujuta Sheth
Rujuta Sheth was born in India and now lives and works in New York City. Sheth uses traditional techniques to create designs that have modern silhouettes using organic and handwoven textiles.
EcoVibe Apparel
EcoVibe Apparel offers trendy pieces, including faux fur bomber jackets, wrap dresses and buttoned skirts, at prices ranging from $25 to $110. The brand uses soft fabrics that are ethically produced and jewelry and accessories that are locally made from recycled and natural materials.
