Last year, gymnast Aly Raisman was one of many young women who testified against gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar for taking advantage of his position and sexually abusing them for years. Nassar was convicted as a serial child molester in 2018, thanks in part to Raisman’s bravery. Now, Raisman is using her platform to inspire others and to help fight against child sexual abuse. In partnership with lingerie retail brand Aerie, the #AerieReal Role Model has just launched an activewear capsule collection benefitting the cause.
The 9-piece Arie x Aly Raisman collection includes sports bras and leggings designed to inspire “strength, wellness & mindful living.” The pieces come equipped with positive messages like “Unapologetically Me,” “Trust Yourself” and “In the Moment,” which serve as a reminder to “be true to who you are and always remember you are good enough,” Raisman says in an Instagram post. “All you can do is try your best, you’re not perfect. No one is. I encourage you to practice self-compassion tonight and pick out things you love about yourself. Take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve come.”
The brand will donate 15 percent of proceeds from the collection (up to $75,000) to Darkness to Light, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering adults to prevent child sexual abuse. The pieces are currently on sale at Aerie and range from $17 to $35. Head on over to update your workout wardrobe while supporting an important cause.
