Abortion rights have been in the news lately after state after state “updated” their laws and restrictions. And the fashion industry isn’t sitting idly by. At last month’s Gucci Cruise 2020 show, Alessandro Michele sent a “My Body My Choice” jacket, a white dress embroidered with a red uterus and several pieces boasting the date abortion was legalized in Italy down the runway.
Now Miley Cyrus is teaming up with Marc Jacobs to raise funds for Planned Parenthood. Jacobs released a pink hoodie featuring the singer with the tagline “Don’t F*ck With My Freedom.” (The line comes from Cyrus’ song “Mother’s Daughter” from her upcoming album She Is Coming.)
All of the net proceeds from the hoodie go to Planned Parenthood. This is not the first time the pair collaborated for a good cause. In 2016, Cyrus and Jacobs released tees that also benefited Planned Parenthood.
Cyrus joins a long list of celebrities speaking out against the new abortion laws, including Travis Scott, Jameela Jamil, Billie Eilish and Rihanna. While there’s no question Cyrus and Jacobs’ hearts were in the right place, there has been a little controversy regarding the collab. Becca Rea-Holloway accused Cyrus of copying her cake design and even posted comparison shots. (Cyrus later acknowledged the similarities and tagged the artist in the Instagram post and pulled the image from any and all promotions of the collab.)
The Charity Hoodie is available on Jacobs’ site for $175.
