Summer is generally thought of as sandal season. That’s because after months of wearing boots and sneakers, we all want to give our feet a chance to breathe. But sandals don’t have exclusive rights to the warm weather months. This season, we’re advocating investing in summer loafers.
What makes a loafer summer-appropriate? Well, it comes down to fabric and/or color. Look for loafers made of linen, raffia or breathable leather. Brights and pastels are the primary hues of the season. Airy accents like cut-outs and perforations help make your feet feel comfortable after a long day of running errands. Then there are the backless versions to help cool your heels.
On the styling front, you can rock them with cutoffs, minidresses and jumpsuits. The key is to get creative. Try slipping on a pair with your fave swimsuit. Or style with bike shorts and a tie-front top.
