The Glossies: All the September 2014 Covers We Loved and Hated
-
Glamour
Olivia Wilde looks delightful in a slinky Lanvin dress for this rather summery fall cover.
-
Harper's Bazaar
Penélope Cruz, Lady Gaga and Linda Evangelista are featured on three separate September Harper's Bazaar covers, while Audrey Hepburn's granddaughter gets the subscriber's cover. That's a lot of covers! Lady Gaga's cover has been generating the most buzz; if there was one to do without, it would be the Penélope one, given her less than tasteful, and frankly not particularly original, outfit.
-
InStyle
You can always count on Julia Robert's smile to light up a cover — even if she's a tad over-Photoshopped.
-
Marie Claire
Blake Lively's Vogue cover was apparently not enough to satisfy the world's somewhat unjustified interest in the actress.
-
Vogue Germany
Vanessa Axente is fresh-faced perfection in Ralph Lauren.
-
Vogue Netherlands
If anyone can make this clownish outfit work, it would be Lara Stone and her bleached-out brows. That said, let's hope no one is inspired to buy this coat.
-
Vogue Paris
This bosom-heavy Natalia Vodianova cover is saved by her piercing blue eyes. The model is wearing Louis Vuitton.
-
Vogue Ukraine
Everything about this Karen Elson cover is just a little bit too 80s.
-
Vogue
In a shocking but welcome move, Vogue put Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss on its cover, instead of a Hollywood star.
-
ELLE UK
Kate Upton goes retro in Prada for this ELLE U.K. cover, which does a superb job of tastefully showing off the model's legs.
-
Teen Vogue
Doesn't look like the Kardashians will be going anywhere anytime soon. While this cover isn't particularly inspired, at least it's age-appropriate.
-
Vanity Fair
Supermodel Natalia Vodianova gets a whopping two major glossy covers for September. Unfortunately this cover screams Christmas more than it does September.
-
Vogue China
Fan Bingbing, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, wears Louis Vuitton (the same look worn by Julia Roberts for her InStyle cover) for the cover of Vogue China. While the outfit works well against the actress' long, dark mane, it's a dress better suited for someone more bosom-heavy.
-
Vogue UK
Cara Delevingne, in her second notable cover this month, gets Vogue U.K.'s most important page all to herself. Wearing Louis Vuitton, her enviable cat eyes were shot by Mario Testino.
-
ELLE
Even a stack of Chanel necklaces can't save this cover from Kristen Stewart's tired, old look.
-
W
It's all about the jewelry for this W cover featuring Rihanna (though somewhere in there is a Donna Karan dress).
